2008 Aruba Poker Classic and WSOPE Day 2 Quick Updates!
Play has concluded for Day 2 in both the 2008 Aruba Poker Classic and the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe! The 2 amazing events have their fair share of star power in them, with many of the world’s top online pros playing in Aruba and the globe’s best live players duking it out in London at the WSOPE’s Main Event. As of right now, play for Day 2 will continue in a matter of hours as I finish writing this post, but I just wanted to give a quick recap of both events for you in case you’re unable to follow.
2008 WSOPE Main Event
Things are heating up across the pond, as the final 16 players get set to play down to the final table. The top stacks right now are Americans John Juanda and Daniel Negreanu, both of which have 7 WSOP bracelets between them! They are separated by a mere 4,500 in chips, with European hopeful Johnny Lodden close behind those two in 5th place. Play will resume again in just a few hours, and it should definitely be one of the most exciting finishes to date on the 2008 tournament circuit.
2008 Aruba Poker Classic
554 players plunked down the $5,500 buyin for this year’s Ultimate Bet Aruba Poker Classic, which was formerly a WPT event. With 2 days in the books, the remaining 294 players will be looking to battle it out as they play until the final 54, which is where the money bubble will burst (see the payout schedule below). As of right now, the chip leader is Jason Smith with just over 107k in his stack, followed by a top 25 that consists of Chip Jett, Shawn Rice, and Prahlad Friedman.
