Microgaming Network Pulls Out of the United States!
The MicroGaming Network of online poker sites, which includes well known names such as Doyle’s Room, GNUF and Unibet Poker, is to block access to its gaming servers using IP addresses with immediate effect. This covers the 13 states where online poker is banned by state law and also Kentucky – where legal issues (stemming from their attempted ILLEGAL hijacking of some of the top online gambling domains in the world) are still in the process of being resolved.
*EDIT* Microgaming has announced this week it is now officially pulling its ENTIRE network out of the United States! The IP Block will go on for not just the aforementioned 13 states (below), but ALL states are now banned from playing on the Microgaming Network. The affected states are:
District of Columbia
Illinois
Indiana
Louisiana
Michigan
Missouri
Nevada
New Jersey
New York
Oregon
South Dakota
Washington State
Wisconsin
+ Kentucky
Players logging on from a banned location will see an error message and will no longer be able to play at the real-money poker tables. Member sites have pledged to ensure that players from the banned States are able to successfully withdraw any money that they have in their accounts.
Advances in location detection software mean that those players seeking to hide their IP address by going through ‘Proxies’ may find this a challenge. However there are still many poker rooms available to players throughout the US which offer real money play.
